I am proud that all my giants are placed in homes where they are companion dogs. Whether they are pet, show, and working quality dogs. They are all companions to their owners. 

Many times people will put their pet giant in the working ring. I enjoy watching giants do what they are meant to do nothing gives me more pleasure. There are a lot of things you can do with your pet.

 Giants are happiest when doing some kind of work. It does not have to be AKC activities if you are not up to that. It can be therapy work that is very nice to do with your Giant. They can do work at home like helping you in the garden, carry things for you. What they enjoy are  to do structured tasks even picking up the mail can be a job for them if you do it in a patterned way and make a training session of it.  You can make a routine of it always doing it in a certain way your giant will think he is working and love his job.

 I have done this, it is fun to do.

1. Get out a treat, put it in your pocket for later and let him know that.

2. Get out the leash he has to be in sit stay position before proceeding

3. In heel command go to mail box behaving well no pulling.

4. I let him sniff the mail next Never let him mouth it or lick it even.

5. I put it in my pocket and say OK lets go home.

6. We walk back home in same heel command.

7. Have him sit stay until I get leash off and hang it.

8. He sits waiting nicely and gets his treat

Each part 1 - 8 was a training session in itself only going to next step as he mastered last one.

He thinks it it his job, we go get what the mailman put in our mail box. I am sure my giant has always been curious about what he was doing.
