By definition a pet quality dog is one who is not considered of breeding quality. If you have a pet be a responsible owner be sure to Spay / Neuter your pet.
There are so many positives that come from
"fixing" your dog, here is a list of reasons why spaying a dog is good.
Reasons to Spay or Neuter your Dog:
* A dog's life span can be increased if they are spayed/neutered.
* It greatly reduces or even can eliminates specific reproductive cancers.
* Spaying the female eliminates the heat cycle along with the discomforts and
mess.
* Spayed/Neutered dogs are a bit less likely to run off and get lost.
* It can sometimes lessen a male dog's need for dominance.
* Stops homelessness of stray dogs.
* Stray dogs damage property, injure children, cause a public nuisance.
* Stray dogs can spread disease and insects and infect well cared for pets.
* It would protect your dog from ending up at a puppy mill.
* Directly decreases the need to rescue dogs.
* Prevents accidental litters and the high costs incurred.
I suggest spay/neuter for dog no longer going to be bred. It is a tough decision to make. Once your show giant has retired and has been bred a few times you may add a few years to your giants life and more time with you by "fixing" your companion.
We do not think every Champion needs to be bred. We personally only breed the ones who are extraordinary and have something positive to contribute to the breed. One should breed only to perpetuate the standards and high quality of the breed for its future.
